  • Lifesaving Skills

Wed 15 May 2024 Mr John Howe

    Lifesaving skills
Year 5, 4 and 3 had a brilliant afternoon learning all about the work of the Red Sky Foundation with the founder, Sergio! The children earnt how to deliver CPR to children and adults, using dummies - George and Michael - to practise their technique. The children also learnt how to use a defibrillator, using a demonstration machine.

    * ‘That was amazing. I liked how Sergio never gave up, even when he was told 'no'"
    * ‘I’ll know how to do CPR now - I'm going to show everyone at home."
    * ‘It made me think – he didn’t give up and I know how to do it."

    Sergio has asked parents/carers:
To see what the children remember from today's session this afternoon (you can send me pics of them practicing on cushions please.)
To follow Red Sky Foundation on social media.
To let our school know whether your child would like to run for the Red Sky Foundation in the Junior Great North Run - on one of their places - raising money for this great cause.

    Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health At Seaburn Dene Primary School the mental health of our pupils and our staff is a top priority. We want our pupils to know that if they have worries our concerns that they can TALK to someone and share their worries.
Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 will take place from 13 to 19 May, on the theme of “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”.
Movement is important for our mental health. But so many of people - young and old - struggle to move enough.
We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to promote finding moments for movement in all our daily routines.
From going for a walk around school, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!
We will be having a Mental Health Awareness week next week. Here is a link to get you started.

    Pyjamarama - Friday 17th May 2024

Pyjamarama is returning to Seaburn Dene in 2024.

At Seaburn Dene, we would love our children to join in the Pyjamarama fun - spending the day in PJs and helping to raise these vital funds for the charity, Book Trust.  Children will take part in reading-themed activities and share stories across the school day. We also plan to begin our day with ‘Breakfast Book-time’ where teachers will share a story with the children while they enjoy some breakfast treats.

We will also be hosting a second-hand book sale: please give your child any good-quality, unwanted children’s books to bring into school before Friday 17th May. Children are invited to bring 50p cash into school to buy a book, if they find something of interest. All money raised from the book sale will be donated to BookTrust.

The suggested donation for the day is £1; this includes a charity donation to BookTrust and a breakfast biscuit and juice to eat in class.

Donations should be paid online by Thursday 16th May using the usual online payment method, under the After School Club code.
