    Big School Bird Watch

Sign up to the RSPB Big Garden Bird watch 2023 (between the 27th & 29th January) and we would like as many families to participate as possible.
We have put together a PDF with all the links you will need to get started, including identification sheets, making and crafting, feeding and much, much more.
All you have to do is click and register.
    https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/
Please help our community in getting involved in supporting your child’s learning in ‘citizen science’ skills, and continue to help us drive science learning forward, within Seaburn Dene.
Share what you are doing and discovering via Dojo Portfolios.
All budding scientists have to start somewhere and every little helps.

    GRIT

Some of our values certificates from Friday. This week in our whole school assemblies, we have been talking about GRIT and the power of not giving up. I did this through showing a time lapse film of a baby learning to walk. All our children could see just how many attempts, failures and eventual success, the child - being filmed - have. This takes us back to GRIT - the ability to keep going, keep trying when things are hard and you keep failing. As we say in school, it's not "I can't", it's "I can't yet."

    SCHOOL COUNCIL

The school council are looking for ideas from you for fundraising activities.
Our vision is to make a positive impact on the school environment and the well being of children across the school.
We would very much appreciate any suggestions you have for fundraising activities.
If you have any suitable suggestions, please contact Mr Smith via Class Dojo or send a written suggestion into school for your child to place into the pupil voice box in their classroom.
We will be discussing all suggestions from children and adults in our next meeting on 2nd February 2023.
    Thank you for your support

  • Strike Action update

Thu 19 Jan 2023 Mr John Howe

Following recent ballots by teacher unions, I am writing to inform you that the National Education Union (NEU) intend to carry out industrial action over the national pay offer and their members plan to strike over a number of days in the coming months.

    The dates are:

    *Wednesday 1st February

    *Tuesday 28th February

    *Wednesday 15th March

    *Thursday 16th March

I wanted to get in touch with you promptly as the impact of the industrial action will mean that you will need to consider additional childcare arrangements on these dates. At the moment, I am assessing the impact this may have on our school and will inform parents of this at the earliest opportunity.

This disruption may involve a full or partial closure of the school. While trade unions have informed their members of their intention to strike, there is also the possibility that through ongoing negotiations the strikes may not take place. I will keep you informed as the situation develops before the first day of strike action on 1st February.

  • Winter Uniform Reminder

Wed 11 Jan 2023 Mr John Howe

As the winter months continue, this is just a reminder to all to ensure that our children come to school in uniform for the conditions ie jumpers, cardigans, winter coats, school shoes.
A link to our uniform policy is enclosed for information.
In line with the DfE recommendations, our aim is to keep the cost of school uniform as low as possible.
We do have a stock of good condition, pre-loved uniform in all sizes if you need to top up. Please contact Mrs Baker directly, if you would like to take advantage of this.
PE hoodies can be worn on PE days and with normal uniform, on the way into school or while playing on the yard, for example.
They are not - however - part of our normal uniform, while in school. These are jumpers/cardigans.
More information is available via the school website.
