We are back!

It's lovely to hear the chitter chatter of children as they begin their learning yet stay excited about their holiday adventures and experiences. Schools are very empty and soulless buildings without children bringing them to life so I am delighted to be back into routine once again.

THE NEW FENCE

The Governors Premises Committee are always looking for ways to improve the school for the benefit of your children and this Summer were able to finance a new fence for the large playground. This fence will provide a much better level of security for children on the playground during lessons and breaks. We were expecting it to arrive during September but had a wonderful surprise on returning to school. However, this morning it is clear that it has created some congestion problems in the "holding" area. It will take us a few days to sort this out but I am politely requesting that children say goodbye to you on arrival and enter through the second gate with bags and coats. They should not return back through the gate and it would help if parents could then move away from the congested area. At the same time, parents are very welcome to come onto the playground to speak to staff and similarly I will encourage staff to go beyond the fence-it's new for us all.

WE ARE HOPING FOR A VERY HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL YEAR

There are too many highlights from last year to mention individually-from Simon Harmer's visit to amazing drama productions and fantastic SATs results and everything else in between. Today I have been finalising a trip to Newcastle Theatre Royal to see "The Sound of Music" which takes place on Thursday so that sets the ball rolling for another year full of learning and enrichment.

MEET AND GREET-Thursday 17th September

As a staff we are continually learning about how children learn so our Meet and Greet this year will be very different. Mr. Howe supported by Mr. Ashton will begin by explaining how Mindsets impact on learning as we are keen to develop "The Seaburn Way" where anything is possible for everyone. To help you when you hear children read we will also explain the superb advice we were given on our training day in July. You will also be able to meet your child's teacher and hear about the year ahead so we look forward to spending the early evening with you. Children are welcome if they are of an age when they can sit quietly while teachers share information with you.

NEW STAFF

A huge official welcome to Miss Bliss in Year 5, Mrs Houston in Yr 3 and Mr. Edwards who is working alongside Mr. Howe in Yr 4. Mr. Edwards is training to be a primary school teacher and will spend most of the year working in our school. We are delighted that all three have joined us and hope they enjoy working with us towards achieving outstanding status.

Mrs Tough is returning this term in a part time capacity. Hasn't that 6 months passed quickly?
