The Early Years Foundation Stage - Nursery and Reception

At Seaburn Dene Foundation stage we aim to provide your children with the five I's:

  • to support them to become as Independent as possible.
  • to Inspire them to learn.
  • to develop their Imaginations to be creative and make links in their learning.
  • to encourage them to be Inquisitive and Interact with the people and world around them.

But most importantly to foster a positive mindset and learn from their mistakes, to develop a strong I Can Attitude...

You can't do it yet!

Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

We hope the information provided in the documents below allows you to be more informed and involved with your child's learning and progress on a day to day basis.

The children follow the EYFS curriculum throughout the foundation stage (Nursery and Reception).

The key skills and experiences are achieved by following a range of themes and topics that are often inspired by children's interests, and change over time, as children grow in their thirst for knowledge.   The characteristics of learning are essential to help identify the ways in which the child engages with other people and their environment.   Underpinning learning and development across all areas of learning and supporting the child to remain an effective and motivated learner.

By the end of the Reception year the children are expected to achieve the ELG's (Early Learning Goals).

However, some children will not reach the expected levels and will be 'Emerging' in their learning.
