Sickness Bug Strikes

VOMITING BUG-48 HOUR CLEARANCE

There is a particularly nasty vomiting bug travelling around school this week. Today it has struck 3 members of staff and many children from nursery to Year 6. We will talk to children about washing hands today and if you wish to equip your child with an anti bacterial hand gel please do. Unfortunately, most vomiting bugs are airborne so, if your child is ill, please follow our 48 hour procedure to help us to contain the spread of this awful virus. Your child (and staff) should stay away from school for 48 hours after the last incident of diarrhea or vomiting even if they appear to have recovered.

SUPERB MEET AND GREET EVENING

It was wonderful to see so many of you at The Meet and Greet last Thursday. Although parents themselves found quite a few maths and grammar questions challenging, they expressed their confidence in our staff in preparing children for the changes in assessments. This positive attitude has become the Seaburn Way where nothing is insurmountable and mistakes are a vital component in the learning process.

POETRY RECITAL COMPETITION

This week teachers are selecting two finalists from each class for the Annual Poetry Recital Competition which will take place on National Poetry Day on Thursday 8th October. There will be a panel of judges to decide an overall winner. I have heard that our reigning champion, Sarah in Year 5, is working hard to impress the judges once again so my advice to finalists is to make it original  and entertaining in any way you can.

WEAR GREEN DAY

Friday 25th September is the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Last year we held an event but, as so many of you work, this year we are holding a "wear green" day in exchange for £1. If everyone joined in we could raise £200 for this very worthwhile cause.
