🎽 Sports Round-Up 🏆

What a week for sport at Seaburn Dene.

A huge well done to our treble-winning Y5/6 football team, who proudly represented Seaburn Dene at the Sunderland Schools' Finals Night at Ford Hub on Thursday. Competing as Division B winners, the team battled against the top schools from across the city — securing wins against South Hylton, Dame Dorothy, and St Cuthbert's RC, and drawing with St Mary’s.

That set up a dramatic winner-takes-all clash with Division A champions Hill View. Despite a determined effort, the team were narrowly edged out 1-0, finishing third overall in the city, just behind St Mary’s - who had drawn with Hill View. A fantastic achievement in a hugely competitive field — well done, team!

🏐 In netball, our Year 6 squad took part in the Tyne and Wear High Five Finals at The Beacon. After a brilliant season, the team earned their place at this prestigious event for the first time in nine years — an incredible milestone. They recorded three wins and three losses, including victories over Fulwell A and East Boldon A, both of whom progressed to the play-offs based on other group results. A valiant performance from a committed team.

🏏 Meanwhile, in cricket, our Year 4 squad finished runners-up at the Cluster Games, only narrowly losing to a strong Dame Dorothy Y5 side. There was outstanding sportsmanship throughout — special credit to our captain George, who led by example. The team are already eyeing up a rematch next season!

👏 Well done to all of our sporting stars — your teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship make us incredibly proud.
