Welcome to our Year 4 class page! We’re excited to share all the brilliant things happening in our classroom this year. From creative writing to hands-on science investigations, we’re working hard, supporting each other, and having lots of fun along the way.
This page will be updated regularly with important information, photos, and resources for pupils and parents.
Monday to Friday
8:45 – 9:00: Morning Registration
9:00 – 10:15: Maths
10:15 – 10:30: Break
10:30 – 12:00: English (Reading, Writing & Spelling)
12:00 – 1:00: Lunch
1:00 – 2:00: Topic (Science, Geography or History)
2:00 – 3:15: Foundation Subjects (PE, Art, RE, Computing, Music)
3:20: Home Time
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday – please ensure children wear their PE kit to school.
English: Descriptive writing and persuasive letters
Maths: Place value, addition & subtraction
Science: Earth and Space
Geography: The Amazon Rainforest
Art: Collage and Colour Theory
RE: What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?
PSHE: Being Me in My World
We’re enjoying a wonderful mix of classic and contemporary stories in our daily reading sessions:
"Cosmic" by Frank Cottrell-Boyce
"The Explorer" by Katherine Rundell
"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis (Guided Reading)
These books help us explore themes like courage, curiosity, and friendship, and spark great discussion and writing in class.
Spelling: Sent home every Monday, tested on Friday
Reading: Please read at home at least 4 times a week – reading diaries checked every Friday
Maths & English task: Sent home on Friday, due the following Wednesday
All homework can also be found on Google Classroom.
