Priorities for Development

The leadership team have been been extremely busy finalising the Seaburn Dene Primary School Development Plan (SDP), which we are are reading to share the headlines with you below for 2019-21

Seaburn Dene School Improvement Plan overview 2019-21

In 2019 we want to:

  • To further develop the content of our curriculum, so that topics are covered in more depth and detail. To ensure every child has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.

  • Improve basic mathematical knowledge within all year groups, while providing challenge across the whole school.

  • Pupil outcomes in writing improve as a result of having better strategies for spelling, including developing their “sticky” knowledge and an exposure to an increasingly wider range of vocabulary.

  • Pupils read widely and often, with fluency and comprehension - at least appropriate to their age – developing a lifelong love of reading. There is a rigour and consistency to the teaching of children’s reading.

  • Improve the attendance of a small minority of our pupils, so that overall attendance is at least in line with or better than National data. To reduce the gap between National data with regards to persistent absence.

  • To widen and develop the understanding and appreciation of life in multi-cultural Britain, while developing a curriculum which ensures a broad and balanced understanding of family life and healthy relationships in Modern Day Britain.
