Dickens and Shakespeare

In March 2016 we enjoyed a week long Charles Dickens Festival and Shakespeare week. This is what you thought:

When we asked you how you would rate our special "drop-in" events 100% of parents who completed the questionnaire felt they were excellent events with 71% grading them as excellent.

We asked you whether or not your child has been inspired by visiting authors and drama specialists. Quite a few of you weren't sure but 60% felt they had a positive impact:

"He felt more excited and enthusiastic."

"We've already bought Chris Lloyd's books as a result."

"My child was excited that he had seen an author. He has been writing his own stories at home".

"She enjoys writing different styles of stories now."

"Rose thought the Big Foot Drama was fabulous. She discussed Dickens times and has repeatedly given us facts from this workshop. Rose was so inspired by Chris Lloyd that she chose to read Anthony and Cleopatra as her bedtime story."

"Incredible book collection. Children should be encourage to read more"

"Helped Joshua think about Shakespeare and got him talking about the authors."

Although we sent a letter out at the beginning of February informing you about the fancy dress Dickens day some of you said that you would have appreciated more notice. The school has taken note of this.

Other comments included:

"Keep going. Family involvement is vital. A rewarding experience for all concerned".

"Could have one every couple of months where an adult  dresses as a character and reads from a story chair."
